대학생의 대인관계 향상을 위한 의사소통 교육

Abstract

이 연구는 대학생의 의사소통에 대한 태도와 대학생활 적응 정도와의 관계를 살펴보고, 대학생들의 대인관계 향상을 위한 의사소통 교육 방안을 제시하는 데 목적이 있다. 대학생들의 의사소통에 대한 인식을 조사하기 위하여 21문항으로 구성된 설문지를 작성하여 대학생 126명에게 설문을 실시하였다. 또한 대학생활 적응 척도를 측정하기 위해서 Baker와 Siryk(1984)가 개발한 대학생활 적응 척도(SACQ :Student Adjustment to College Questionnaire)를 현진원(1992)이 번안하고, 김효원(2005), 이지선(2009)이 수정한 것을 50문항으로 재수정하여 사용하였다. 대학생활 적응 점수에 따라 대학생활 저적응 집단과 대학생활 고적응 집단으로 나누고 두 집단이 의사소통 인식에 대해 어떤 차이를 가지는지를 분석하였다. 대학생활 저적응 집단은 고적응 집단에 비하여 ‘새 학기 증후군’을 더 많이 가지는 것으로 나타났으며, 이는 통계적으로 유의한 차이를 보였다. 또한 대학생활 고적응 집단이 저적응집단과 비교하여 대학생활에서 ‘의사소통 능력’이 더 필요하다고 생각하며, 자신의 의사소통 능력이 더 뛰어나다고 생각하는 것으로 나타났다. 본 연구는 대학생들이 대학생활에 잘 적응하고 대인관계를 원만하게 하는 데 도움을 주는 방향으로 의사소통 교육이 이루어져야 함을 주장하였다. 또한 대학 교양의 의사소통 과목이 일방적 말하기에서 벗어나 상호교섭적인 말하기 방식을 강화하는 방향으로 개선되어야 한다고 본다.

This study aims to investigate the correlation between collegiate communication skills and the level of student adjustment to college, and to conduct a rudimentary research to aid the development of collegiate communications capability. It is the aim of this study to propose a method to improve collegiate communication skills based on the findings. With the mean of the SACQ as the criterion, students were divided into two groups, one of high adjustment scores, and the other of low adjustment scores. Subsequently, how the higher group differed in their perception of communication from their lower counterparts was analyzed. The lower group showed more signs of 'new semester blues' compared to the higher group. Also the higher group found communication skills to be more essential in collegiate life, and thought of their own communication skills as better than the lower group. This study affirmed the need for communication skills courses that can help students adjust better to collegiate life and improve their interpersonal skills. Communication courses of the liberal arts faculty must be improved in a way that can help develop the communication capabilities of college students.
