- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to verify physiological effects o yfoga exercise and using public transportation , and to provide basic data for health promotion of obese elderly males through a comparative analysis of obesity indices, inflammatory reactions, stress hormones and physical activities of obese middle-aged white-collar male workers. The subjects in this experiment were divided into two groups: a group (n=11) who carried out 12-week program of yoga exercise and using public transportation and the other group (n=10) using their own cars. There were significant differences in body mass index (BMI) (p<.05), body fat percentage (p<.05), belly (p<.05), and daily steps (p<.01) between two groups. There were significant differences alos in IL-6 (p<.05), TNK-a (p<.05), CRP (p<.01), ACTH (p<.05), and cortisol (p<.05) between two groups, and there was a significant relationship between physical activity and (BMI) (p<.05), body fat percentage (p<.05), belly (p<.01), CRP (p<.01), and cortisol (p<.05). Therefore, it is considered that 12-week treatment of yoag exercise and using transportation can be used to present basic eudcational data with respect to development o f exercise program for health promotion of obese elderly men.
