타인의 정서적 피드백이 완벽주의자의 적응행동에 미치는 영향

Abstract

본 연구는 개인의 요구와 사회적 요구가 공존하는 딜레마 상황에서 완벽추구 지향성(자기지향적 완벽주의, 사회부과적 완벽주의)에 따라 타인의 정서적 피드백이 적응행동에 미치는 영향을 확인하였다. 이를 위해 다차원적 완벽주의척도 하위유형에 따라 높은 자기지향적 완벽주의자(20명)와 높은 사회부과적 완벽주의자(20명)를 각각 선별하여, 정서적 피드백(이모티콘)을 받으며 금전보상을 분배하는 수정된 독재자 게임에 참여시켰다. 완벽주의 집단별 피드백 유무에 따라 금전보상의 양에 대해 반복측정 변량분석을 실시한 결과, 자기지향적 완벽주의자 집단은 피드백 조건에서 상대방에게 제공하는 보상의 양이 유의하게 증가한 반면, 사회부과적 완벽주의자 집단은 피드백 유무에 따라 금전보상의 차이는 없었다. 이를 통해, 타인의 정서적 피드백이 자기지향적 완벽주의자의 이타행동을 증가시키는 것을 확인하였는데, 이는 개인의 내적 요구(e.g., 금전적 이득)와 사회적 요구(e.g., 타인과의 상호작용)가 공존하는 딜레마 상황에서 자기지향적 완벽주의로 하여금 정서적 피드백을 통해 이타행동을 유발시킬 수 있다는 것을 의미하며 사회부과적 완벽주의자와 비교하였을 시, 자기지향적 완벽주의자가 사회적으로 적응적임을 시사한다.

The present study investigated the effect of emotional feedback from others on adaptive behavior changes in perfectionist during goal-conflicted dilemma situation (self and social needs). We divided participants into self-oriented perfectionism (SOP) and socially prescribed perfectionism (SPP) groups (high SOP tendency, n=20; high SPP tendency, n=18) and measured their implicit altruistic behaviors by using modified dictator game. As results, SOP participants show greater reward shift during feedback phase, whereas in SPP participants show greater reward shift during the partner player is present. These results imply situations where personal needs and social needs were co-existing, emotional feedback can increase altruistic behavior in individuals with SOP tendency which individuals with SOP is more socially adaptive than individuals with SPP. In clinical setting, results from the present study can be used in planning treatment for individual with eating disorder by their perfectionism tendency.
