- Abstract
The purpose of this research is to examine the role of factors influencing optimistic bias and intention for coping behavior. An experiment was conducted with 100 college students in which two news articles were provided to two groups of participants. The content of the two articles was the same except for the name and affiliation of the informant. Thus, the participants could know the nationality of the informant. It was found that involvement and the nationality of the informant showed interaction effects to optimistic bias mainly by affecting risk perception of others. But optimistic bias did not influence behavioral intention.
