1인 가구의 주관적 삶의 만족감에 관한 연구: 미혼 1인 가구와 기혼 1인 가구를 중심으로

Abstract

본 연구는 1인 가구가 느끼는 주관적 삶의 만족감(Subjective Well-Being, SWB)에 관한 실증분석을 시도하였다. 삶의 만족감은 ‘취업 및 경제적 어려움으로 인한 결혼의 지연으로 인한 1인 가구’와 ‘별거 및 이혼의 증가, 고령화에 따른 노인 독신 가구’가 상이한 특징을 지닐 수 있다는 점에 착안하여, 1인 가구를 기혼과 미혼으로 구분하여 각각의 삶의 만족감에 영향을 주는 요인을 분석하였다. 본 연구의 주요한 분석결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 전체가구와 1인 가구의 평균 삶의 만족감을 비교한 결과, 전체가구의 삶의 만족감은 3.40, 1인 가구의 삶의 만족감은 3.16으로 나타나, 1인 가구의 삶의 만족감이 상대적으로 더 낮은 것으로 조사되었다. 둘째, 전체가구를 대상으로 삶의 만족감에 영향을 주는 요인을 분석한 결과는 기존의 연구결과들과 유사한 것으로 분석되었다. 셋째, 1인가구도 미혼과 기혼의 구분에 따라 매우 상이한 특성을 갖는 것으로 조사되었다. 미혼그룹과 기혼그룹으로 유형화하여 1인가구의 주관적 삶의 만족감을 분석한 본 연구는 이러한 유형화를 고려한 정책적 지원의 필요성을 강조하였다는 점에서 의의가 있다.

There has been a rapid increase in one-person households in South Korea since 2000. It has been argued in the previous literature that characteristics of one-person households are closely associated with those of minority groups. The socio-economic characteristics of one-person household have drawn much attention in the last decade, but their level of life satisfaction has never been investigated in the previous literature. The purpose of this study is to investigate how the socio-economic variables that affect Subjective Well-Being (SWB) of one-person households are different from those of multi-person households. One-person households are divided into two groups according to their marital status. Our empirical results showed that firstly, many factors that have been considered significant for SWB of the total population are no longer influential in the one-person households. Secondly, the factors that affect SWB of married one-person households are different from those of non-married one-person households.
