- Abstract
- A novel compact antenna is proposed based on a substrate-integrated waveguide (SIW). Size reduction is achieved by applying an eighth-mode substrate-integrated waveguide (EMSIW). The shape of the EMSIW cavity is a right-angled triangle, and it occupies only 12.5% of the conventional full-mode SIW structure. Although the antenna size is minimized, high gain and radiation efficiency are achieved at 4.94 GHz due to the two open sides of the triangles. (C) (2014) Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
