- Abstract
- In this paper, a novel hybrid excitation synchronous motor (HESM) with an asymmetric rotor aiming at the superposition of excitation torque and reluctance torque at the maximum values is analyzed. The mathematical model is first established for the conventional motor model, which introduces the theory of the superposition of the torque components in detail. Then, based on the finite element method (FEM), four proposed HESM models with different pole-slot combinations are analyzed. Through the comparison of electromagnetic performance, including back EMF, output torque, and torque ripple, the optimal pole-slot combination for the HESM is determined. © 2020 IEEE.
