- Abstract
- BIM technology has been utilized increasingly in quantitative ways in various AEC disciplines. However, recently owing to the increasing requirements for the improvement of qualitative factors of BIM-based design projects, it is necessary to measure quality through the design evaluation and checking for improving quality of design information based on BIM. The purpose of this study is to define the criteria and develop rule-based building code checking system for BIM-based design quality improvement. To achieve this purpose, the authors have investigated quality information in design process and case status of BIM-based code checking and deducted building code checking targets through domestic building regulation. In addition, the authors have defined criteria for open BIM-based building code checking by reconstructing the target and developed rule-based building code checking system using SMC API. © 2017 International Information Institute.
