- Abstract
- Greening buildings play an important role in the sustainable growth of the construction industry. Although global interest in green buildings is increasing, its adoption rate is still lower than expectation due to the insufficient consideration of its benefits and cost effectiveness. VE refers to the potential method to provide an optimal balance of the benefits and costs of green buildings. However, the conventional VE is rarely employed in green building projects, and is limited in its ability to discuss green benefits including energy efficiency. This research proposes a VE work environment for green building projects where BIM is applied to perform critical activities for decision making on green buildings in the VE process. © 2017 International Information Institute.
