- Abstract
- This article aims to analyse the elite sport policy factors in the sport of golf by using the analytical framework, 'SPLISS Model', which is comprised of nine areas of elite policy and was developed by De Bosscher et al.(2006). According to our analysis, this paper identified that the KGA has showed its strength in the six areas of elite sport policy to develop the sport as follows: (i) finance in general, and financial support from affiliate members of golf clubs; (ii) organizational structure and administrative system of the KGA; (iii) participation in golf; (iv) talent identification and development system; (v) domestic·international competitions; and (vi) scientific research. Whereas the three areas of elite sport policy have been developed in a modest level, as follows: (i) athletic and post career support; (ii) training facilities; and (iii) coaching provision and coach development. Lastly, this paper identified the usefulness of the analytical framework, SPLISS Model, in interrogating a single sport such as golf, as well as elite sport policy factors leading to international sporting success at a national level. The SPLISS Model provided a useful insight to analysing the development of elite sport policy factors in the sport of golf.
