재외국민·외국인 대학생의 학교소속감 결정요인: 학업적응 및 사회교류 관점을 기초로

Abstract

이 연구는 재외국민·외국인 특별전형으로 대학에 진학한 학생의 학교소속감에 주목하고 그 결정요인을 학업적응 및 사회교류 관점에서 실증적으로 살펴보고자 하였다. 이를 위해 서울 소 재 H대학교의 2020학년도 2학기 학습경험 설문조사 자료를 분석하였다. 분석 결과, 재외국민· 외국인 특별전형 입학생은 자신이 학업에 어려움 없이 잘 적응하고 있다고 지각할수록 학교소 속감이 높은 경향이 관찰되었다. 또한, 이들은 동료 학생과의 교류가 활발하거나 교수와의 관계 가 좋다고 인식할수록 높은 수준의 학교소속감을 보였다. 이러한 경향은 학과에의 소속감에 있 어서도 마찬가지였다. 이 연구의 분석 결과는 대학에서 재외국민·외국인 특별전형 입학생의 학교소속감을 제고하기 위해 이들 집단의 학업적응 및 사회교류를 지원하는 것이 중요함을 시 사한다. 대학이 포괄적 캠퍼스 생태계 시각에서 재외국민·외국인 대학생의 학습 활동과 사회 적 상호작용을 촉진하고자 노력할 때 이들의 학교소속감도 효과적으로 개선될 것으로 기대된 다.

The purpose of this study is to identify factors that affect the overseas Korean and foreign (OKAF) students’ sense of belonging on campus. An academic adjustment perspective and a social interaction perspective constitute the framework for this study. Using a survey dataset gathered at H university in Seoul in 2020, a series of analyses have been conducted. The results indicate that OKAF students who exhibit a higher level of academic adjustment as well as a greater degree of healthy interaction with peer students and professors tend to have a stronger sense of belonging on campus at both department and university levels. These findings suggest that approaches to helping OKAF students enhance their sense of belonging on campus may benefit from efforts to create a campus ecology that enriches their academic and social life.
