방송포맷 거래에 나타나는 휴리스틱 및 네트워크 효과의 함의와 한국 포맷 수출 전략 연구: ˂복면가왕˃과 ˂너의 목소리가 보여˃ 중심으로

Abstract

이 연구는 행동경제학의 범주인 휴리스틱과 네트워크 효과라는 이론적 틀을 통해 방송포맷 거래가 실제로 어떻게 작동하는지 알아보았다. 그리고 ˂복면가왕˃과 ˂너의 목소리가 보여˃ 같은 성공적인 한국 포맷 수출 사례에 적용 해보고 이에 대한 분석을 통해 이러한 사례를 지속적으로 발굴하기 위한 전략을 도출해보고자 했다. 연구결과 방송포맷은 경험재임이 확인되었고, 포맷 거래는 포맷의 내적 요인이나 외적 요인에 따라 이용가능성 휴리스틱이나 대표성 휴리스틱, 또는 두 가지가 모두 작용하여 발생했다. 그리고 포맷의 성공에 기반해 새로운 시즌 또는 다른 나라 버전 이 하나둘씩 추가되는 과정이 반복되고 확장되는 네트워크 효과가 나타나기도 했다. 이 내용들은 ˂복면가왕˃과 ˂너목보˃ 수출 사례를 통해서도 설명이 가능했다. OTT 성장에 따른 환경변화에도 레거시 미디어는 공존하며 포맷에 대한 수요도 계 속될 것이라는 전망 아래, 연구내용을 기반으로 분석해 ‘포맷 장르 다변화’, ‘마케팅 역량 강화’, ‘판매 투트랙 전략’, ‘핵심 바이어 네트워킹’, ‘후광효과 활용’, ‘바이어 맞 춤형 전략’ 등 6가지 정도의 향후 전략을 도출해 낼 수 있었다. 이 연구는 휴리스틱이나 네트워크 효과를 실험이나 설문조사를 통한 객관적인 수 치로서 입증하지 못한 점에서 한계가 있다. 하지만 방송포맷 거래의 본질과 과정에 집중하고, 포맷 거래에서 가장 중요한 역할을 하는 바이어의 구매 의사결정 요인에 대해 행동경제학 관점에서 분석했다는데 의의가 있다. 또한, 국내·외 최고 수준의 포 맷 산업계 관계자들의 인터뷰와 최신 문헌자료를 통해 보다 심층적이고 다각적으로 분석할 수 있었기에 의미가 있는 연구라 판단한다.

This study examined how TV format trading actually works through the theoretical framework of the category of behavioral economics, Heuristic and network effects. And It was checked that the K-format successful export cases such as <The Masked Singer> and <I Can See Your Voice> was applied in order to draw up strategies to continuously discover these cases through analysis. The research confirmed that the TV format was an experience material, and the format transaction occurred due to the availability of Heuristic or representative Heuristic, or both, depending on the internal or external factors of the format. And based on the success of the format, the process of adding new seasons or versions of other countries one by one has been repeated and expanded. These were also explained through export cases of <The Masked Singer> and <I Can See Your Voice> Under the prospect that legacy media will coexist and demand for formats will continue despite changes in environment due to OTT growth, It was able to derive about six future strategies based on its analysis of the research, including 'variety of format genre', 'strengthening marketing capabilities', 'sales two-track strategy', 'core buyers networking', 'use of halo effect', and 'buyer customized strategy'. This study has limitations in that it has lacked of demonstrating the effects of heuristic or network effects as objective figures through experiments or surveys. However, it is meaningful to focus on the nature and process of TV format transactions and to analyze buyers' purchasing decision factors, which play the most important role in format transactions, from a behavioral economics perspective. Also, I think it is meaningful research because it was able to analyze in more depth and diversity through interviews with top domestic and foreign format industry officials and the latest literature materials.
