- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to deeply analyze the meaning of dance sports performances of middle-aged women as a serious leisure and to present the theoretical framework. For this purpose, researcher conducted research on 7 participants who belonged to dance sports club of P city, Gyeonggi-do for about 10 weeks. This criterion was made after screening the subjects that included the concept by operational definition, between 40 and 55 years of age. A total of seven research participants participated in dance sports from 8 to 20 years, and more than 10 times in the performing arts. It was middle-aged women who experienced dance sports as a serious leisure and experienced periodical performances. Among the qualitative research methods, the results analyzed through the process of open coding, axial coding, and selective coding using the grounded theory approach are as follows. First, causal conditions and situational contexts have a combined influence on background factors. Second, as middle-aged women experience serious leisure by experiencing performances, internal and external situations are burdened. Third, it was found that even though there is a burden of participation, the interaction strategy was more serious.
