With the recent advancement in Power electronics, DC is being considered as an alternative for different transmission voltage levels. Especially, MVDC is explored for better power quality at sub-transmission level but also has wide application in industries as well as shipboard power system. However, one of the prime challenges of DC transmission system is fault interruption. In this paper, recent developments in two interruption topologies for DC Power system has been discussed at medium voltage level i.e., Hybrid and inverse current injection topologies. The shortcomings of both the topologies are discussed in general. Finally, the discrepancies in interruption of newly proposed fastest current Oscillation type DC Circuit Breaker are presented Based on Schwartz black box arc model in MATLAB/Simulink and failed interruption due to arc energy is elucidated.-
