Circuit Breakers (CB) are widely used protection devices in High Voltage (HV) AC circuit. This condition makes the CB as one the fundamental HV apparatus. This situation encourages HV apparatus manufacturers to produce CB in different kinds of voltage level with different capability and performance. In this research paper, we proposed a modeling method which can be used to select appropriate commercially available HV AC CB for a certain circuit. The CB's arc behavior was modeled using Schwarz Black Box arc model (Schwarz-BB). The Schwarz-BB parameters were calculated using curve fitting method utilizing parameter sweep technique. The CB models performance was compared with the real CB performance during real current interruption process. The similarities of current and voltage trace between real case and simulation result indicate the precise CB model. This model can be use further to analyze the appropriate CB selection for a certain electrical circuit. © 2017 IEEE.-
