- Abstract
- The National Museum of Korea, as a representative museum in Korea, has been leading the changes in domestic museums in various aspects such as architecture, academics, exhibitions, and programs. This study aims to confirm the tendency of spatial change on time serial changes. Firstly, it collects the bid notice and the successful bid list of the National Museum of Korea in the Korea On-Line E-Procurement System by web scraping methods. Then, the preconditioning process extracts the data related to spatial changes manually. Secondly, the data is sorted under five heads as types of the project, under seven heads as functional areas, and under twenty-six heads as functional spaces. The third step is to compute and visualize the amount of the time series changes in the number of successful bids. Through this, identify major spatial changes and the tendency of spatial changes in the National Museum of Korea by year. In conclusion, the actual spatial changes of the National Museum of Korea appeared in two aspects. The first aspect is the continuous spatial changes to complement and maintain the traditional functions of the museum. These changes include reflections on the trends of the times required for each traditional museum function. The second aspect is the spatial changes to accommodate the new role required for the museum. This is characterized by the spatial changes occurring simultaneously in the affiliated museums during a specific period or the spatial changes occurring in the affiliated museums based on a specific point in time.
