- Abstract
- This study collected and analyzed performance data from the official website of the Korean Professional Golfers' Association(KPGA) to examine the impact of age on the performance of KPGA Korean Tour players. The data spanned a period of 10 years, from 2013 to 2023. The analysis of the collected data was conducted using IBM's SPSS version 27 for Windows. Descriptive statistics were employed to examine the age and golf skill factors of KPGA Korean Tour players. Pearson's correlation analysis was performed to explore the associations between age and golf skill factors. Based on the results of the correlation analysis, we conducted a simple linear regression analysis to verify the effect of age on the performance factors that showed a statistically significant correlation with age. The performance factors that exhibited a statistically significant correlation with age were set as the dependent variables. The results indicated that the athletes' age had a statistically significant correlation with performance factors in the following order: driving distance, recovery rate, fairway accuracy, and average score (p˂.05). It was also found that age had a significant effect on average score, driving distance, fairway accuracy, and recovery rate (p˂.05). In conclusion, it is believed that improving the performance factors that are significantly influenced by age can help in more efficiently enhancing performance levels and maintaining a longer athletic career.
