dc.description.abstract | in recent years the advances in Power Electronics and control has led to the increasing share of DC transmission lines in largely AC based Power networks. The responsiveness of High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) converters has led the researchers to investigate their role in maintaining the stability of the associated AC networks. In this paper we have discussed a hypothetical scenario to establish the importance of Emergency DC Power Support Controller in theory. We have also discussed some important considerations for design of such controller. In addition a test bed consisting of monopolar LCC (Line Commutated Converter) HVDC interconnection connecting two AC power networks was implemented in PSCAD/EMTDC for the application and study of EDCPS. The results indicate an improvement in the transient response of the AC system after being subjected to disturbance. | - |
