정문(鄭問) 만화 예술의 언어에 관한 연구 - ˂동주영웅전(東周英雄傳)˃ 중심으로 -

Abstract

본 연구는 중국의 예술적 전통을 통해 대만 만화를 풍요롭게 한 만화작가인 정문(鄭問)의 작품을 재고해 보고자 한다. 이를 위해 관련 문헌과 전문학술지의 논문을 1차 연구 자료로 분석한 후, 문헌 연구를 기반으로 작품 시각이미지 분석을 통해 해석적 결론을 도출하였다. 정문의 대표작 <동주영웅전>(東周英雄傳)을 연구 대상으로 만화 예술의 언어(그림, 칸, 텍스트)를 분석해 봄으로써 그 속에 담긴 전통 문화예술을 찾아내고 오늘날 중국 만화에 참고할 수 있는 단초를 찾아보고자 하는 목적을 가진다. 본 연구를 통해 <동주영웅전>을 심층적으로 분석한 결과 다음과 같은 결론을 도출했다. 첫째, 정문의 만화는 그림의 관점에서 중국화의 ‘겸공대사 기법’을 활용하여 자신만의 화법을 창출하였음을 발견할 수 있었다. 둘째, 칸의 수를 줄임으로써 칸에서 공백을 활용한 구성을 보여주고 있다. 이는 동양의 ‘여백의 미’를 잘 보여주고 있다. 셋째, <동주영웅전>은 나레이션과 대화를 적절히 분배하여 사용으로써 나레이션을 통해 역사적 사실에 대한 객관성을 유지함을 확인할 수 있었다. 동시에 독특한 의성어와 의태어의 활용을 통해 시각적 표현을 강조했다.

This research reexamines the works of the prolific comic artist Chen Uen through the lens of traditional Chinese art. By analyzing relevant literature and scholarly articles from professional journals, the study bases its interpretative conclusions on documentary research complemented by visual image analysis of Chen Uen's seminal work, "Heroes of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty". Grounded in aesthetic principles, the analysis delves into the comic's artistic language-its imagery and text-to uncover embedded traditional cultural arts and identify cues relevant to contemporary Chinese comics.ﾠ The in-depth analysis of "Heroes of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty" reveals several key findings. Firstly, Chen Uen's comics utilizes the "combining meticulous and freehand styles" technique from Chinese painting to create his own unique visual style. Secondly, by reducing the number of panels, the composition effectively makes use of negative space, reflecting the Eastern aesthetic of "the beauty of leaving space". Lastly, "Heroes of the Eastern Zhou Dynasty" balances narration and dialogue, using narration to maintain objectivity on historical facts while employing dialogue to enhance immersion.
