- Abstract
- This study aims to quantitatively analyze the impact of reflected sunlight from curtain wall façades on indoor glare through simulation, and to evaluate various glare indices. Glare indices (DGP, DGI, UGR, VCP, CGI) and lighting variables (Ev, Lavg, Lmax) were evaluated at 60 grid points in an office space. Results showed that DGP, UGR, and CGI indicated intolerable glare levels throughout the reflection periods. Vertical illuminance exhibited considerable variability,
suggesting that severe glare can occur even under low illuminance conditions. Generalized Additive Model (GAM) analysis showed that glare indices were most strongly correlated with Lavg and Lmax under reflected conditions, whereas Ev had the strongest correlation in non-reflected conditions. These findings highlight the need for a more refined framework to evaluate glare induced by reflected sunlight in urban environments.
