Abstract
Purpose: This study aims to analyze the research trend of major sports events in China using the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) thematic model. Method: To achieve this, 452 valid documents from 2005 to 2025 were collected from the CNKI (Chinese Knowledge Network) database. Data preprocessing and analysis were performed using Python version 3.13. In the analysis process, nouns were extracted through tokenization, stop words were removed, synonyms were integrated, and various methods such as frequency analysis, Word2Vec, topic modeling (LDA), and Spearman rho were applied. Results: The study identified several key themes, including sports events, strategies, cities, the Asian Games, and the Olympic Games. From these themes, five primary research topics were derived: Urban Development, Event Impact, Event Effect, Event Management, and Event Planning. Each topic encompasses specific research directions, such as urban development and economic promotion, the overall effectiveness of events, risk management, the enhancement of urban image through media, service system construction, and experience optimization. This indicates that research on large-scale sports events in China primarily aims to address economic, social, and cultural problems through a multidisciplinary approach centered on urban development. Conclusion: Based on these findings, this study offers valuable insights into the strategic planning and implementation of sports events, while also highlighting the potential applicability of innovative research methodologies within the field of sports science.
