Abstract
In this paper, a single airgap two-phase axial flux surface permanent magnet (AFSPM) type BLDC motor is proposed. The rotor with surface magnets and the stator with concentrated winding are designed such that AFSPM can be driven with pull-push process technique as well as only-pull process technique. The proposed motor driven with only the latter technique has been studied. The AFSPM is able to exhibit higher torque per magnet volume as compared to conventional PM motors. The output characteristics of proposed design model are analyzed and compared with that of conventional PM motor driven with pull-push technique using 3D finite element analysis.
