- Abstract
- Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) for Structural Health Monitoring (SHM) consist of multiple sensors which collect various information about the structure, including temperature, humidity, and corrosion. The sensor nodes are asynchronous, which leads to collision and retransmission of data between the sensor nodes. In this paper, we present an algorithm to prevent time synchronization error (TSE) from occurring when multiple sensor nodes were occupied in WSNs. The developed algorithm is to synchronize the sensor nodes by using a device based on Internet of Things (IoT) and applying standard time. The synchronization of the nodes not only improves data acquisition capability, but also decreases power consumption of WSNs. © 2020 IEEE.
