- Abstract
- Along the public library policy in UK, London borough of Tower Hamlets has dealt with the public library as a community renewal tool since 1999. The study aims to find out the characteristics of the Idea Stores which are public libraries in Tower Hamlet, London, UK. In doing so, it has analysed some architectural properties such as location, spatial organization and operating programs in order to find out the specific characters of each Idea Store according to the local situations of the community. As a result, it is suggested that Idea Stores reflect the local features and play a significant role as a community renewal catalyst.
