중국인 한국어학습자의 음운규칙 적용 양상 연구

Abstract

이 연구는 외국어로서의 한국어 학습자들을 대상으로 자음 충돌에 의한 음운 변동 규칙의 적용 양상을 분석하고, 한국어 교재의 발음 교육 내용 개선을 위한 시사점을 찾는 데 목적이 있다. 조사 대상자는 서울 소재 한 대학의 학부 및 부설 어학원에 재학 중인 중국인 유학생 57명이며, 이들의 비음화, 유음화, 경음화, 유기음화 적용 양상을 문장 실험을 통해 살펴보았다. 분석 결과, 하나의 음운 변동 규칙 내에서도 그 환경에 따라 정반응 비율에서 유의미한 차이가 있음을 확인할 수 있었다. 또한 고급 단계에서도 여전히 습득되지 못한 규칙이 있으며, 그러한 음운 규칙의 미습득으로 인한 오류는 한국어 학습 기간이 3년 이상인 고급 단계 학습자들에게서도 크게 줄어들지 않는다는 사실을 알 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 발음 교육이 초급 단계에서뿐 아니라 중급과 고급 단계에서도 지속적이고 반복적으로 이루어져야 함을 보여준다. 또한 같은 규칙이라도 입력형의 음운 환경에 따라 학습자가 느끼는 규칙 적용의 난이도가 달라지므로 음운 환경을 세분하여 교육 내용을 마련하고 학습자의 수준에 맞는 규칙과 사례를 제시하는 것이 필요하다.

The purpose of this study is to examine the errors produced by foreign learners of Korean language with focus on several phonemic alternation rules such as nasalization, lateralization, tensification and aspiration. We performed sentence-reading experiments on 57 Korean-learning Chinese, including beginners, intermediate and advanced students. The results of this study showed that the percentage of correct reponses with the same rule was varied depending on the detailed condition of input(underlying) forms. In some cases, the pronunciation errors were considerably frequent even in advanced student group. Our results suggest that advancedstudents also need to have pronunciation education constantly and repeatedly as well as beginners do. Besides, Korean language textbooks should provide more specified explanation on the detailed phonological environment of each rules, and present examples ofwords suitable for the students' proficiency level.
