Basic Research for Risk Identification and Evaluation of Modular Construction

Abstract

This study is a basic preliminary study of risk identification and evaluation of modular construction. The purpose of this paper is to propose the process and main task divided into design, manufacturing, transportation, and construction. This study conducted a case study of three companies in Korea that carry out the stacked modular process and, through expert advise, derived a modular common process and task with a factory manufacturing rate of 80% that maximizes the advantage of modular construction and minimizes conducting field construction. The task that are likely to have a high risk factor in the categorized process are shaded and identifying and evaluating the actual importance of the risk will be undertaken in subsequent studies. Additionally, If the analysis of additional work and exclusion work according to the factory manufacturing rate, it is possible to derive important control poit and standardized porcesses of the modular construction.
