전후 신진시인들의 언어인식과 ‘새로운 시’ 의 가능성

Abstract

이 연구는 『한국전후문제시집』에 수록된 전후신진시인들의 산문을 대상으로 하여 전후 신진시인들의 언어의식과 새로운 시의 이념을 살펴보려는 목적을 지닌다. 첫째로, 그들은 시적 언어로서의한국어의 재인식을 중요한 문학적 과제로 삼았다. ‘이중언어세대’로서 그들은 ‘한국어로 문학하기’라는 문학적 과제에 대한 고민을 공유한다. 사실, 이들이 새로운 언어에 천착한 것은 현실과분명히 구분되는 ‘순수한 언어’를 가진 기성 시단에 대항하여 독자적인 문학을 건설하기 위함이었다. 그런 의미에서 그들은 현실에 긴밀히 연관된 언어, 시 속에 현실을 기입하는 언어라는 새로운 언어 프레임으로 새로운 시를 창작하고자 한 것이다. ‘한국어로 시쓰기’라는 시사적인 과업은 한국어의 미적 실험이라는 미학적 과제로 이어진다. 특히 조향이 내건 <데뻬이즈망>의 미학은한국어의 미학적 가능성에 대한 전위적인 실험으로 평가할 수있다. 『한국전후문제시집』의 수록 산문은 두 가지 시사점을 남긴다. 하나는 전후의 시인들은 언어- 현실과의 관련성을 밝힘으로써 현실과 언어의 관계성을 재탐색하려고 하였다는 점이다. 시와 현실을 각기 다른 세계에 놓인 자족적 세계로 보지 않고, 두 세계의연관성에 대해 탐색하려고 하였다. 이것이 ‘언어가 끝나는데서 시작되는 행동’라는 명명이 의미하는 바이다. 이 때 ‘현실’은 제도와정치 등의 이데올로기적 현실이 아니며, 제도와 정치가 지배하는일상의 장에서 개인이 느끼는 욕망이나 억압이라는 구체적 현실을의미한다. 또 하나는, 일본어에서 벗어나 모국어를 향하여 개방된시적 감수성을 보여주고 있다는 점에 있다. 한국전후문제시집에 참여한 시인들은 각각 현대성을 인식론적 차원에서 뿐 아니라, 미학적으로 실현하려는 욕망을 가지고 있었다. 그러나 이 시집에 한정해볼 때 그것이 실제 작품으로 실현되었다고 보기는어렵다. 다만 ‘모국어’에 기반한 시적 감수성을 토대로, 새로운시의 가능성을 보여주고 있다고 평가할 수 있다.

The purpose of this study is exploring the aesthetic modernity aspect of postwar poems by taking the prose of postwar rising poets published in the『Collection of Korean postwar controversial poems』and exploring their awareness on language. First, their literal task was new understanding on Korean language as a poetic language. They were so-called ‘duallanguage generation’, who had been born during the colonial period and grew up while reading and writing in Japanese language, instead of mother tongue. They share the concern on the literal task of ‘creating literature in Korean language’. The issue of poetic diction as told by the prose in the 『Collection of Korean postwar controversial poems』 was the critical mind, which they inevitably arrived at as a lingual issue, while approaching the modernity aesthetics of Korean poetry. In fact, the reason of their seeking new language was to build independent literature independent from existing poetical circle, which had ‘pure language’, which was clearly different from reality. They created new poems within the framework of new language, which was the language closely related to reality, or, the language by which they can describe reality in poems. The implicative task of ‘creating poem in Korean language’ led them to the task of aesthetic experiment on Korean language. Especially the aesthetics of by Jo Hyang can be evaluated as an avant-garde experiment on the aesthetic possibility of Korean language.
