김현의 초기 비평에 나타난 주체화와 담론의 특성

Abstract

김현의 초기 비평에서 ‘만남’은 김현의 비평적 주체화와 정신사적 내면을 응축하는상징적 표지이다. 그 ‘만남’은 세 층위로 포개져 있는데, <자기 존재와의 ‘대면’과 ‘만남’>, <타자와의 ‘만남’과 ‘사랑’>, <‘존재’와 ‘언어’의 만남>이 그것이다. 이 과정에서김현은 비평가로서 자신의 운명을 보았는데, 비평은 그에게 ‘실존적 기획’이자 자기삶의 실현이었다. 김현의 초기 비평은 신화와 우화의 차용, 쉼표와 줄표의 빈번한 사용, 서술어와 어절의 반복, 수사적이고 비유적인 문장 등을 통해 감정을 고양시키고 정서적으로 수용하게 만든다. 이러한 특성은 60년대 중반 이후에는 분석적이고 정연한 논리, 장황하지 않는 단문, 차분하고 안정적인 문체로 표현된다. 그러나 50년대 문학과의 차별화를 통한 주체화의 과정에서는 공격적이고 전략적인 담론들을 효과적으로 활용한다. 한편 초기 김현의 비평적 기반이었던 프랑스문학은 인식과 판단의 절대적 준거였다. 때문에 그의 초기 비평에는 프랑스의 상징주의 시론과 실존주의 문학론 등이 인용의 형태로 수없이 출몰한다. 이러한 문제점은 점차 비평 전체에 걸쳐 변화와 갱신의 과정을 통해 극복한다. 김현의 초기 비평에는 그 내적 계기들과 변모의 구체적인모습이 담겨 있다.

‘Encounter’ in the early criticism by Kim Hyeon is symbolic cover tocondense critical subjectification and inner side of mental history of KimHyeon. The ‘encounter’ is overlapped in three layers, that is, <‘facing’ and‘encounter’ with one’s own self >, <‘encounter’ and ‘love’ with the others>,<encounter with ‘existence’ and ‘language’>. The process was ‘existentialplanning’ and also realization of his own life to him. Early criticism discourse of Kim Hyeon heightens emotion and makesreaders accept sentimentally through borrowing of myth and fable, frequentuse of comma and dash, repetition of predicate and phrase, rhetorical andmetaphoric sentence etc.. Such characteristics are expressed in analytic andwell-ordered logic, tidy short sentence, calm and stable writing style afterthe middle of 1960s. But in the process of subjectification throughdifferentiation with literature in the 1950s, he used aggressive and strategicdiscourses effectively. On the other hand, French literature which was critical ground in hisearly criticism was absolute criterium for recognition and judgement. Suchproblem was gradually overcome through process of change and renewal forwhole criticism. And this was connected to exploration of Korean‘imagination system’ and critical efforts to seek ‘ideology type’ of Koreanliterature.
