This study tries to clarify the transformation of Pyongyang's urban morphology after modernization by comparing Pyongyangseongdo with Land Register Map of 1914. As the result of this study, we can identify two significant facts: firstly, 1) the characteristic of Pyongyang's urban morphology in the late Joseon Dynasty including street system and urbanscape, the position of public buildings, the size of urban blocks and plots, and urban housing types; secondly 2) its collapse and transformation amid push to modernize through the establishment of mission stations and modern educational institutions, the construction of railway station and Punggyeonggung, the formation of Japanese town and the destruction of city walls.
