- Abstract
- The purpose of this study was to examine and provide the psychological disturbance factor which was evaluated through in-depth interview, in order to develop the performance of Korean national rhythmic gymnasts. Research participants were three Korean national rhythmic gymnasts who participated in world championship series, and the 1:1 interview was proceeded during 60-80 minutes. The interview was conducted with open-ended questionnaire, and over-the-phone or mailing interview was done for missing materials. The results of this study were divided into seven general categories and thirty-two detailed-factors. (1) Detailed-factors of psychological skill and psychological status categories were: anxiety/tension, negative thoughts, slump, decline of confidence, lack of enthusiasm/ motivation, arrogance/conceit, identity crisis, excessive self- expectations, and decline of concentration. (2) Detailed-factors of social support categories were: family, coach, other people, and lack of resources. (3) Detailed-factors of victory/defeat stress categories were: excessive desire for winning/responsibility, and sense of rivalry. (4) Detailed-factor of physiological condition categories were: decline of change of physiological condition, injury, out of kilter in the game, and losing weight. (5) Detailed-factors of game situation categories were: game management, lack of experience, spectator, influence of mass-media, judge, and xenophobia. (6) Detailed-factors of environmental condition categories were: scale/atmosphere of game, stadium’s environment, and climate. (7) Detailed-factors of routine program categories were: the things of wearing or taking in the game (uniform, shoes, equipment, etc.), lack of exercise, unusual routine, unusual program.
