- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to compare characterization of environmental impact of major building material as part of developing the building life cycle assessment program. For this purpose, the theoretical consideration of the life cycle assessment and environmental impact category was performed and the direction of the study was set up. That is, the major building material in the global warming potential view was drawn against the building and LCI database was selected. The classification was performed about 6 kinds of environmental impact categories that it specifies in KS I ISO 14025 based on the reference substance and impact index. And the environmental impact for the major building material was calculated through the characterization. Meanwhile, the environmental impact of major building material in the same category was compared based on the characterization of environmental impact which was calculated in this study. As a result, the formulation of cement ready-mix concrete is a major factor in determining the characterization of environmental impact, and characterization of environmental impact of cement is determined, depending on the content of the alite and belite.
