모험 스토리 개발을 위한 『삼국유사』설화의 연구

Abstract

이 글에서는 모험 스토리의 개념으로 『삼국유사』의 설화에 접근하는 한 가지 방안을 소개하였다. 모험 스토리는 모험담을 바탕으로 하면서, 오늘날 콘텐츠화 할 수 있는 기본 이야기 줄거리가 갖춰진 상태 또는 그 전 단계를 말한다. 영웅담의 시각을 벗어나 보면 모험 스토리는 『삼국유사』를 새로운 콘텐츠의 생산에서 높이 활용할 수 있게 한다. 영웅이 아니면서 영웅을 만드는 이야기가 모험 스토리이다. 영웅이 되고 싶지 않았으나, 이야기의 전개 과정 속에서 영웅이 된다. 이런 이야기의 틀은 오래 전부터 있어 왔으며, 오늘날 우리가 새로운 이야기를 만들어내는 데에도 준거(準據)가 된다. 모험 스토리의 조건은 두 가지이다. 첫째, 영웅담이나 일반설화 그리고 불교설화로 분류된 것 가운데 여로/협력자/시련/보상의 4대 요소를 갖춘 설화이다. 둘째, 다양한 에피소드를 추가할 여지가 있는 설화이다. 이 4대 요소는 보글러의 12단계를 필자가 조정한 것인데, 특히 여로가 분명히 드러나는 경우 모험 스토리에 가까이 간다. 『삼국유사』에는 9개 주제로 나눠 약 150여 가지 이야기가 소제목을 달고 실려 있다. 이 이야기 가운데 위에 제시한 두 가지 조건을 고려해 먼저 9개의 설화를 선정하였다. 건국신화류 : 주몽, 탈해, 무왕일반설화류 : 수로부인, 거타지, 비형랑불교설화류 : 혜통, 보양, 장춘평민적 영웅상과 평민소설의 실현 아래 문학사적 흐름이 놓여 있고, 해체된 영웅이나 개방된 캐릭터의 창조가 가능한 쪽으로 가자면, 『삼국유사』 속의 아홉 가지 모험 스토리를 적극 개발할 필요가 있다. 이미 13세기의 봉건적 사회 분위기 속에서도 일연은 이 같은 터전을 마련해 놓았다. 모험이 단지 무서운 일의 경험에 그치지 않고, 시대의 한계를 뛰어넘는 어느 지점에 목표를 둔다는 점에서도, 『삼국유사』 속의 설화 가운데 모험 스토리는 이 같은 가치 실현에 적합하다. 문화콘텐츠 개발의 최전선에 원천 소스의 발굴이 중요한 과제로 대두된 상황에서, 모험 스토리로서 제시하는 9개의 설화는 나름의 역할을 하리라 본다.

This study introduces a approach to Sam-Kuk Yu Sa(三國遺事) in the notion of adventure story. Adventure story is a state or previous stage based a narrative of adventure with basic storylines which can be contents. Beyond a viewpoint of heroic tale of a larger category including adventure, the adventure story is able to highly use Sam-Kuk Yu Sa for the production of new contents. Creating a hero who was not a hero is the adventure story. Someone didn't want to be a hero, but he becomes a hero in the development process of story. Like this story frame has been around for long time, also it is a standard to create new story at present. The first condition of the adventure story is the folk tales with four elements, journey/collaborator/trials/reward, in classified folk tales as heroic tales, general folk tales and buddhist folk tales. Second, adventure story is the folk tales, which is able to add various episodes. These four conditions are adjusted from 12 phases of Vogler, and a case with apparent journey gets closer to the adventure story especially. Sam-Kuk Yu Sa divided into 9 subjects, and it has 150 stories with straplines. In these stories, I selected 9 folk tales considering 2 conditions listed above. 1. Type of the birth myth of a nation : Ju-mong(朱蒙), Talhae(脫解), Muwang(武王)2. Type of the general folk tale : Surobuin(水路夫人), Geotaji(居陁知), Bihyeongrang(鼻荊郞)3. Type of the buddhist folk tale : Hyetong(惠通), Boyang(寶壤), Changchun(長春)Stream of the literature history is under the realization of commoner hero and commoner novel. For creating deconstructive hero and open character, 9 stories in Sam-Kuk Yu Sa need to develop actively. Already Ilyeon(一然) sets up a base in feudal society of 13th century. Adventure is not only frightful experience but also it aims to overcome the limitation of era. Therefore the adventure story of folk tales in Sam-Kuk Yu Sa is fit for such value realization. In important situation of excavating original source for developing cultural contents, 9 folk tales of adventure story will perform the role of its own.
