Abstract
The Permanent Uni-wall System (PUS) was recently developed to construct continuous Cast-In-Place (CIP) walls as temporary retaining walls as well as external walls for underground portions of buildings. The PUS wall is constructed by combining two different types of piles for forming continuity of the wall. This study investigated applicability of the accumulative nominal flexural strength of a unit section in the PUS wall, because it makes easier to estimate the strength of the unit section, which consists of two pile sections with an atypical shape, reinforced by different structural types. The results of the analysis showed that accumulative nominal flexural strength approximates well the strength of the unit combined section, except for the case, in which the circular pile is reinforced, as a ste ucture, by an H-beam without stirrup under a large axial load exerted by the aboveground portion of the structure. © 2013 American Scientific Publishers All rights reserved.
