Abstract
With the ever increasing demand in electricity, a lot of efforts are being put to design efficient automation schemes so that the electricity demand can be met without increasing the power generation. To fulfill the above goals, the smart grid concept was introduced and it is gaining more importance by each passing day. In order to fully apply the smart grid concept, a reliable and efficient automation network is needed but this is quite challenging as most of the wireless sensors deployed in these networks have serious processing and power constraints. To improve the efficiency and lifetime of these wireless sensor devices, a new concept is proposed in this paper to group the devices, having similar properties and interests, and later apply the game theoretic concept of group bargaining. The group bargaining concept was originally developed for economics to show how the groups of individuals bargain with each other. By using this concept in the smart grid model, we can manage the system more efficiently and the system reliability is further increased along with the life time of the system.
