서울시 지하철 환승역 유도사인디자인의 문제점 및 개선방안

Abstract

산업의 발달과 함께 지하철은 이 시대에 가장 중요한 대중교통으로 급속히 성장하였다. 많은 사람들이 이용하는 지하철은 대중교통의 기능 뿐 아니라 문화의 복합기능 공간으로 발전하고 있다. 이러한 지하철역 주변은 사회적 측면의 모든 부분에 있어 상업적으로 문화적으로 많은 영향을 주고 있다. 지하철역이 늘어 노선이 많아지면서 환승하는 역이 많아지고 환승라인의 길이도 늘어가고 있다. 복잡하고 많은 동선이 겹치는 역사에서 이용자들은 보다 정확하고 빠른 이동을 원하고 있다. 따라서 지하철 유도사인의 기능은 매우 중요한 부분을 차지한다. 본 연구는 효과적인 안내를 위한 지하철 유도사인의 디자인을 찾고자 하였다. 먼저 학술논문, 단행본을 포함한 도서, 출판물의 문헌 조사를 통한 선행연구와 비교분석으로 지하철 유도사인디자인의 시각적 요소와 종류에 대한 내용을 정리하였다. 연구의 범위로는 국내 서울시 지하철 환승역 중 가장 사용자가 많은 지하철 2호선의 잠실역과 신도림역을 선택하였고, 비교분석으로 일본 동경도 지하철 JR 라인의 환승역인 신주쿠역과 도쿄역의 지하철 유도사인디자인의 현황 분석을 하였다. 일본 동경의 지하철은 세계에서 많은 사람들이 이용하고 있는 지하철로 이용자들의 만족도가 높아 비교분석 대상으로 선정하였다. 이와 같은 비교분석을 통해 서울시 지하철 유도사인디자인의 문제점을 알아보고 그에 따른 개선방안을 제안하였다. 첫째, 유도사인의 통일화를 제안하였다. 둘째, 동선을 고려한 이용자 중심의 화살표와 픽토그램을 제안하였다. 이와 같은 통일과 체계화된 유도사인디자인으로 이용자에게 정확하고 올바른 정보를 제공하여 지하철 유도사인의 역할을 수행하며, 문화의 복합기능 공간으로 그 역할을 충실히 해 나갈 것이다.

With the development of industry, subway has rapidly become one of the most heavily used public transportation in this era. It has numerous functions, not only as a mean of transportation but also as a venue for cultural events. In this respect, areas surrounding the station became an important commercial or entertainment district, which affects every level of the community. As more and more subway lines and transfer stations have been created, a total length of the transfer corridor has accordingly increased. Since transfer passengers intend to move swiftly and accurately in a complex and crowded space, guidance signs in the subway station play an important role in directing passenger to various sections efficiently. The purpose of this research is to investigate the designs of efficient guidance signs which can properly guide passengers in subway stations. To this end, the visual components and types of guidance signs in subway stations have been discussed through an analysis of the theoretical background, including academic papers, books and other publications. In order to examine the guidance designs of Seoul subway lines (Seoul Metro), the signs in Chamsil station and Shindorim station, being the most heavily populated transfer station, have been chosen for domestic examples. Then, they are compared with the signs in Shinjuku station and Tokyo station, both of which are JR transfer stations in Japan. The reason for choosing the two stations is that they are also heavily used subway stations, and at the same, time they have received high satisfaction rate from passengers. Throughout this comparison, the present study points out the problems of the guidance signs in Seoul Metro and proposes ideas to improve the them. Firstly, the unification of the guidance sign designs has been suggested. Secondly, passenger-centered arrows and pictograms which consider the flow of human traffic have been considered. The proposed guidance signs, which exhibit more unified and systemized designs, will provide passengers with more accurate and clear information; and consequently, it will ultimately lead subway stations to become multi-functional spaces in the community.
