- Abstract
- Past a few decades, drought research has been intensively conducted due to increased occurrences of the drought events in Korea. In this study, we suggest the utility of the Moderate Resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) imageries to estimate the drought vulnerability. The MODIS renders a moderate spatio-temporal resolution to characterize the drought patterns in space and time. Especially, MOD 11 Land Surface Temperature (LST) products provide a clue to detect the drought severity and duration associated with hydrological variables such as rainfall. The MOD 11 LST and Effective Drought Index (EDI) were employed in this study to examine drought characteristics in terms of their correlations regarding different spatial scales. © 2010 ASCE.
