Abstract
This paper introduces the novel coefficient function for the skewed PM and overhang structured BLDC motor. The novel coefficient function is obtained by the moving least square (MLS) method and 3D FEM and is utilized to reduce the executing time in optimal design. By using calculated coefficient function and 2D FEM, the additional MLS regression model is obtained to calculate a more reasonable optimal skew angle and overhang length of PM with minimized PM size considering with the skew and overhang effect. Finally, the optimized result utilizing combined MSL regressive equations is compared with a 3D FEM result to verify the proposed design.
