Research about Comparing Public Facilities of the Inside and Outside of the Country

Abstract

Ⅰ. Background

In Korea Public design is increasing in importance, hence Seoul and local autonomous entities have begun to put emphasis on public design and try to change the image of cities. Those changes also had begun in some European cities. For examples, Design for London is a one of governmental organizations for public design in United Kingdom and its purpose is to promote public design for London Olympic. Promotion policy for public design in Europe, which is integratedly designed and improve the image of city, can be a good case for Korea.. The purpose of the research is to explore public facilities, media and public space between Korea and an advanced culture in foreign country and to analyze which factors of public design in Korea lag behind. Furthermore this research purports to show how we can reform public design in detail; its functional aspect is emphasized until now.
