Abstract
As the energy resource exhaustion and environmental problems are getting more serious, many researches for reducing air pollution have been performed. According to this trend, LPG engine increases interest as an alternative engine to reduce emission of diesel engines, which are still using a fuel supply system without electronic control. In light of this, LPG(Liquified Petroleum Gas) fuel for vehicles has lots of advantages such as low emission level, cheaper fuel cost and enough infrastructure. What is more, it has a low emission level of CO2 wellknown as the factor of `Global Warming`, thus the use of LPG engines is getting increased. Especially since MPI(Multi Point Injection) type LPLi(Liquid Phase LPG injection) system has been used for the fuel supply system, disadvantages of LPG engine such as low engine performance, decreased charging efficiency and cold starting difficulty have been improved and prejudices against LPG engines have been changed a lot. Therefore in this research, spray visualization experiment was performed under atmospheric condition and air charging condition and the effect of the ambient pressure on spray characteristics of LPLi injector was investigated in a high pressure chamber which simulates diesel engine air charging conditions.
