온라인 대인관계의 정서적 애착(emotional attachment)형성에 관한 연구: 온라인 커뮤니티의 번개모임의 영향력을 중심으로

Abstract

CMC 환경에서는 사회적 상호작용이 가상공간에서만 이루어지는 것이 아니라 작금에는 정서적 인디케이터(emotional indicator)를 활용하는 여러 온라인 커뮤니케이션 수단과 면대면 커뮤니케이션 효과를 활용하는 오프라인 커뮤니케이션 수단을 동시에 사용함으로써 온라인 혹은 가상공간과 오프라인 혹은 물리공간의 삶이 융합되고 있다고 할 수 있다. 이 연구는 번개모임과 같은 오프라인 커뮤니케이션 수단을 통한 온라인과 오프라인의 연계성이 정서적 애착(emotional attachment)을 증가시켜 대인관계 형성과 발전에 미치는 역할이나 영향을 알아봄으로써 전체적으로 가상공간에서 이루어지는 온라인 대인관계 함의를 찾아보고자 한다. 분석 결과 오프라인 모임을 통한 온라인ㆍ오프라인 커뮤니케이션의 융합의 경험은 온라인 커뮤니케이션에만 몰입하는 상황에서도 구성원들 간의 정서적 애착을 갖게 하며, 온라인 대인관계 형성과 발전을 촉진시키는 중요한 역할을 할 수 있다고 판단할 수 있다. 더 나아가 강한 정서적 애착은 온라인 커뮤니티 자체의 지속적인 성장과 유지에도 중요한 역할을 담당할 수 있을 것이라고 해석할 수 있다.

Recently, social interaction in CMC environment is achieved by combining the usage of online communication components and offline communication components. By examining the perception of people on their online interpersonal relationships in online communities, this study aims to explore the significance of the interconnectedness in improving emotional attachment. According to findings, the experience of bungae was positively and significantly related to the perception of emotional attachment. The present study empirically shows that the connection between online life and offline reality through bungae in online community has substantial impact on forming and maintaining members’ emotional attachment. Hierarchical multiple regression also shows that attending bungae is a significant predictor for enhancing emotional attachment. Consequently, the findings suggest that bungae provides a starting point for understanding the significance of the connection between online life and offline reality. Implications and suggestions for future studies are discussed.
