Abstract
As low birthrate and aging continue, Korea made efforts to attract foreigners, but the result of foreign policy over the past decade was the quantitative growth of foreigners. according to the purpose of the government to move away from this foreign growth policy focused on quantitative growth, it is necessary to analyze how foreign policy that led quantitative growth affected local economy. This paper examines the impact of immigrants and residence behavior of foreigner and natives on housing price and regional GDP in korean metropolitan area municipalities. In order to reflect the residence behavior, we used the dissimilarity index for the analysis. As an analytical method, we adopt panel simultaneous equation model to deal with effects of immigration on housing price and Empirical result is that 1% immigrants increase 0.27% rise of apartment average price. And housing price caused by immigrants Increase 1.095% rise of regional GDP. but 0.1 rise of Dissimilarity Index decrease 0.053% of regional GDP. The result from this study shows that immigrants has positive effects on regional apartment average price but if immigrants and natives prefer separate living, this can affect negative effect on regional economy.
