- Abstract
- In this study, we associated the syntactic structure with aspectual interpretation of the commencement expression of the Japanese “V-hajimeru” sentence and the Korean “Vgisizakhada” sentence and “Vgi-(r)eul-sizakhada” sentence. To be more concrete, the advance research analysis on the deep structure and surface structure through new evidences was accepted. And the derivational structure which is the control and raising was presented. On the aspectual interpretation, “atelic” or “telic” as the universal aspectual interpretation was presented. Based on the above analysis, three cases of the linking relationship between the syntactic structure and aspectual interpretation of the Japanese “V-hajimeru” sentence and the Korean “Vgi-sizakhada” sentence and “Vgi-(r)eul-sizakhada” sentence were suggested. Case 1: “Deep Structure: Bi-clause”-“Derivational structure: Control structure”-“Surface Structure: Mono-clause”-“Aspectual Interpretation: Telic”; Case 2: “Deep Structure: Bi-clause”-“Derivational structure: Raising structure”-“Surface Structure: All of Bi-clause, Mono-clause”-“Aspectual Interpretation: Telic”, and Case 3: “Deep Structure: Bi-clause”- “Derivational structure: Control structure”-“Surface Structure: Bi-clause”-“Aspectual Interpretation: All of telic, atelic”. Also, the reason of the one-to-two relationship between the Japanese “V-hajimeru” sentence and the Korean “Vgi-sizakhada” sentence and “Vgi-(r)eul-sizakhada” sentence, namely: the Japanese “V-hajimeru” sentence and the Korean “Vgi-sizakhada” sentence and “Vgi-(r)eul-sizakhada” sentence are the same with the deep structure (bi-clause), derivational structure(control structure) and aspectual interpretation (telic) were presented. © Rushing Water Publishers Ltd. 2018.
