일본 공공도서관의 지역적 특성 적용 사례 고찰

Abstract

Today’s public libraries are continuously expanding their role as centers for local communities, information delivery, educational, and leisure activities. Accordingly, public libraries are taking a strategic approach in their responses to the adapting social role of libraries via a combination with other functions or individual characteristics, as well as making efforts to enhance their uses and extended public services. However, the local library's floor plan lacks distinction from the floor plan of a general library. On the other hand, Japan has a clearly defined role for their public library system, which is frequently used by its residents. Some case of public libraries in Japan have secured their individuality within a clear system. This study is an analysis of the Tokyo area's four public libraries, and it is intended to draw conclusions on the spatial composition for specialization, and to provide base data that is necessary for planning the layout of local public libraries.
