- Abstract
- The purpose of this study is to investigate the process of reiastlic problems experienced by domestic professional golf players and to identify the process of solving them by applying the grounded theory method. In order to accomplish this aim, we analyzed data collected from media publications and a series of seven indepth interviews with KPGA and KLPGA tour golfers who are expeierncing livelihood problems. The results of the paper are as follows. 193 concepts, 23 sub-categories, and 12 upper-categories were derived in the process of investigating underlying reality problems of professional golfers. Based on the collected data, we can assume that the central phenomenon seems to be a concern about livelihood. We found that the causal situations which cause such anxieties were ‘expenditure burden’, ‘financial pressure’, ‘personal’, ‘environmental’ and ‘institutional’ difficulties. In this situation, the participants of the research conducted an intervention strategy of ‘resolving economic burden’ and ‘retirement readiness’ with ‘others’ support’ and ‘a clear sense of purpose’ as interaction strategies so as to solve their concern about livelihood as the central phenomenon.
