- Abstract
- The study analyzes the cases of the regeneration projects for rulal towns in chung-buk province. The projects have different strategies to make active central area by improving the decayed public buildings and urban infrastructures. Many local cities have became decayed more and more because of the problem of population reduction and aging.
Thus, the government has been pushing ahead with the rural town regeneration policy to stimulate the city center by the concept of compact-city. The main approach of the policy is to revitalize the central area through the supply of public service facilities and the connection with existing main facilities along with software management like programms, utilization and local organization. Especially, there are important differences in the availability of idle buildings and lands when the project made decision the urban strategy to activate a regional center in each leading district of the rural town regeneration project.
