Abstract
This study on environmental impact assessment of structure maintenance method selects a method suitable for research on maintenance method and analyzes material of the impact indexes of six environmental impact categories of the national life cycle inventory database (LCI DB) about the maintenance method. To this end, it chooses polymer cement mortar filling method which is utilized on construction sites, and conducts an environmental impact assessment about two types of polymers (SBR-styrene butadiene rubber, EVA-ethylene vinyl acetate). It analyzes Materials Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) required for each maintenance method utilizing domestic and overseas LCI DB and derives the impact indexes of six environmental impact categories of the national LCI DB according to each KS standard mixing ratio and proposes a maintenance method to reduce the environmental load. Analyzing the results of the environmental impact assessment, SBR showed higher characterization value than EVA in six environmental impact categories; that is, polymer cement using EVA is a more sustainable technology. © International Journal of Sustainable Building Technology and Urban Development.
