- Abstract
- The purpose of this research was to understand the perceptions of Taekwondo (TKD) schools for the international youth through experts' opinions and surveys from the TKD people in the United States and Asian countries. A mixed research method was used, quantitative was to analyze the survey questionnaires and qualitative was to increase the reliability and validity by Focus Group Interview (FGI) with TKD experts. As a result of this study, experts indicated that TKD became a globalized sport and expressed very positive opinions in that creating an international TKD academy for the youth would be beneficial. Also, the findings from the surveys provided important evidences such as that they: (1) were interested in the establishment of International TKD Academy, (2) were interested in applying for the International TKD Academy in South Korea, and (3) agreed with that the International TKD Academy needed to be established in Korea. Finally, the priority of the domestic TKD people for the international TKD school was educational environment and the other hand that of the international people was educational curricular.
