Abstract
Induction motors are the most commonly used motors for driving railway vehicles. Most design-related papers, however, mostly ignored many assumptions such as the experience constant for saturation in the magnetic equivalent circuit method. In this paper, we define the teeth, yoke and total saturation coefficients of a polyphase induction motor for magnetic equivalent circuit calculation, and propose a process that can calculate the performance more precisely by using these definitions. Finally, the validity of this process is verified through finite element analysis. © 2018 The Korean Society for Railway. All rights reserved.
