- Abstract
- The purpose of this paper is to propose a small-scale heat-pump-driven liquid-desiccant (HPLD) air-conditioning system for residential buildings to remove both the sensible and latent loads. The operating strategies that can be applied to all seasons were established, and the operating performances and energy efficiencies of the proposed system were experimentally analyzed for the typical summer and winter operating modes. The proposed HPLD air-conditioning system consists of a liquid-desiccant (LD) unit for removing the latent load and a heat-pump (HP) unit for removing the sensible load. The experimental results indicated that the dehumidification rate was 5.29 kg/h, cooling capacity was 7450 W and its energy efficiency was 7.72 EER for the summer, and the humidification rate was 2.92 kg/h, heating capacity was 5075 W and its energy efficiency was 2.51 COP for the winter.
