- Abstract
- The direct evaporative cooler operates by recirculating the water to reduce the amount of water required to operate the system. However, microbial contamination accumulates when water is recirculated. Such microbial contamination causes air quality degradation in the process air and may cause respiratory disease of the occupant. This study confirmed the relationship between air pollution and water quality of recirculated water used in a direct evaporative cooler. In the first experiment, bacterial contamination of the process air in the direct evaporative cooler was confirmed. In the second experiment, it was confirmed that air quality was improved when recirculated water treated with ultraviolet reactor was used in direct evaporative cooler. However, in botu experiments, it was confirmed that the air pollution of process air increased as the duration of operation increased.
